Win at Crystal Palace was bigger than Man City - Liverpool star Lallana

Adam Lallana believes Liverpool's fighting win at Crystal Palace on Sunday was more important than the midweek thrashing of Manchester City.

The Reds came from 1-0 down to beat the Eagles 2-1 with ten men at Selhurst Park courtesy of a very late penalty from Christian Benteke.

Liverpool have struggled at the South London venue in recent years and Lallana felt it was a more monumental result than the 3-0 win over City last week, especially considering they lost James Milner to a red card midway through the second half.

"It's been a big response," Lallana told the Liverpool Echo.

"We all felt so disappointed after what happened in the final but we needed to put it behind us.

"We said before the game that victory here would be even bigger than beating Man City on Wednesday night.

"To win in the last minute says a lot about this team. We've had some bad defeats to Palace, not only here but at Anfield as well, so we owed them one."
