Wigan have sold midfielder Denny Landzaat to Feyenoord in a £1million deal.

The transfer ends an 18-month stay at the JJB Stadium for the Holland international, who cost the Latics £2.3million from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2006.

After returning to Holland on Thursday for talks, it is expected the 31-year-old will sign a three-and-a-half-year contract.

Assistant manager Eric Black confirmed: "This will maybe come as a surprise to people.

"But it was an offer that was very interesting for him, and the gaffer has agreed to let him go."
