Burnley forward Wout Weghorst has opened up about his decision to leave the club after their relegation.
Weghorst has signed for Besiktas on loan and will spend the entire 2022/2023 season in the Turkish league.
The club can also secure him permanently when the loan expires for a set fee.
However, he has not ruled out returning to Burnley one day.
He stated: "I think the connection was there and I felt it in the beginning. That for me was the main reason to sit down and to speak because I wanted to be open and honest.
"The Burnley fans at Turf Moor made my whole Premier League dream I had. The club, especially the fans, made it special and they are beautiful. The songs they sung for me and the moments we shared, that is something I will always keep in my mind and will always have a place in my heart.
"It is absolutely not that I am feeling too good for the Championship or that I don't want to play in the Championship with Burnley. From my side there are some reasons for it and also I spoke about it with the club before I came so we had our discussions, vision and thoughts.
"I hope there could be a return from my side and we could have more positive and successful moments together and I am looking forward to that moment."
