Watford's Deeney never doubted he belonged in the Premier League

Watford striker Troy Deeney took ten games to score his first Premier League goal, but he claims he was never in doubt that he belonged in the top flight.

The 27-year-old striker helped his side to a 2-0 victory against Stoke City on Saturday.

When asked if he believed in his abilities, Deeney, 27, replied: "Yes, that's why Premier League teams have wanted to buy me for the last three years.

"I'm good. If I wasn't playing and wasn't getting picked then I would definitely be questioning myself, but I've been playing really well and setting up goals.

"I always said it would come. If I'm honest I didn't want it to take this long but it did.

"I'll just work hard every game and as long as the team is doing well and I'm in it, it's happy days. The most important thing to talk about is the team performance.

"Getting off the mark is great for me but the team played really well."
