Villarreal win at Real Betis to keep top 4 push on track

Villarreal's Champions League push remains on track after last night's 2-0 win at Real Betis.

The visitors were handed the chance to open the scoring from the spot when Marc Bartra was penalised for a challenge on Carlos Bacca in the sixth minute.

Gerard Moreno converted the penalty before adding a second before half time after a cute turn to lose Sidnei on the edge of the box.

Betis were reduced to 10 men at the end of the first half when Nabil Fekir received two bookings in as many minutes.

The Frenchman received a yellow card for throwing the ball at referee Jesus Gil Manzano in protest, then for a foul on Moi Gomez .

A man down, Betis were unable to get back into the game in the second half and Villarreal took the victory.

Javi Calleja's side have now one four of their last five games and stay three points behind fourth-place Sevilla in LaLiga Santander.

Betis, meanwhile, remain in 13th, eight points clear of the bottom three.
