Villarreal are set to pursue a January move for Arsenal defender Cedric Soares.

The Spanish club are hoping to secure the 32-year-old, who is out of favor at the Gunners.

Per ESPN, Soares could be allowed to leave in the winter for a modest fee by manager Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal have not used him this season, while he was out on loan at Fulham last term.

Villarreal have been tracking Soares since the summer and are ready to open talks with Arsenal.

The Gunners are not likely to object, as they see Soares as surplus to requirements.
