Villarreal defeat Galatasaray in 7-goal friendly

Villarreal defeated Galatasaray 3-4 in a match where the Submarine put in a complete performance, scoring four goals in the first half. They came from Francis Coquelin, Johan Mojica, Samu Chukwueze and Jorge Pascual.

Quique Setién made a number changes to the starting lineups that started the game against Fenerbahçe. Academy prospect Jorge Pascual made his first start, after making his debut in the match three days earlier. He also scored a goal.

The first goal of the match came from Coquelin. The Yellows No.19 got on the edge of a loose ball at the edge of the area, controlled it and hit a tremendous right-footed volley into the home side's goal (0-1, m. 22).

It didn't take long for the scoreboard to read 0-2. The goal came from a direct free kick. Colombian left-back Johan Mojica expertly took a long-range free kick that went in just inside the left-hand post. A great goal (m.26).

The Submarine was looking good. Chukwueze made it 3-0. The Nigerian received a brilliant through ball from Coquelin, which left him all alone in front of goal and he scored with tremendous coolness and class (m. 31).

Galatasaray pulled one back from a set piece. Gomis headed home from a corner to make it 1-3 (m.41).

Villarreal responded convincingly. Chukwueze capitalized on an error playing it back to the goalkeeper and gifted youngster Pascual a goal, which was his first with the first team. Something he will never forget (1-4, m.43).

The Turkish side went for it in the second half. They scored thanks to a header from Abdulkerim Bardakci, which brought them back int the match (2-4, m.58).

The final goal of the match, to make it 3-4, came in added time after a questionable penalty conceded by Mojica. Baran Demiroglu took the spot-kick and scored.

Next up for Villarreal is a friendly in England against Aston Villa (Thursday, 9pm CET).
