Villarreal coach Quique Setien hailed his players after their 5-1 rout of Athletic Bilbao.

Setien declared the performance among their best since he took charge.

He said, “We were very effective and we played a great game. It was vibrant and with alternatives. We were able to solve the problems and play an almost perfect game.

“We are now with a point of inspiration that is needed to get results. I always said that it was important to get to the end of the season well because that's when everything is at stake and we've achieved that. We are motivated and with a great performance. This translates into goals and points.

“We have to focus on doing things well, win the games we have and see how far we get to the end of the league. We've extended our lead over the chasing pack. It's very positive. Europe is very close."
