Villarreal coach Marcelino is eager for Ben Brereton to settle in.

The summer signing from Blackburn Rovers has battled for form and minutes so far this season.

Marcelino said: "I've been here for a very short time. And Ben has been with his team. It is early to establish any opinion. When he plays with Chile... he is English for all intents and purposes.

"He hardly speaks Spanish. For the English, adapting to Spanish football is not easy. We have to be patient. It is difficult for him to play on the left. You would see it above in the drawing that we now propose for the team.

"He must integrate as quickly as possible and trust his abilities. All of that will help you find the performance of it. What I want is for him to reach his best performance and it will make things difficult for me and improve the team."
