Villarreal coach Unai Emery was delighted for the fans and the city after their Champions League win against Bayern Munich.

Anjut Danjuma struck as Villarreal won their quarterfinal first-leg 1-0.

Emery said, "The most satisfying thing about this night is to see the pride of the community. That they want to share this with us. Professionalism is vital, yes. But football is sentiment. So I'm super proud to make our fans so happy tonight.

"My team is very competitive. We are collecting lots of superb memories and experiences across this season and last. They were practically perfect tonight.

"We need to take another step forward next week, we need to demand still more from ourselves in trying to eliminate them.

"It's all part of the experience that we had a goal ruled out, that Bayern made some chances, that we missed some opportunities. But I'm content with what I saw. What we need is to take this kind of attitude, this level and exceed it again next week."
