Manchester United are making a late move for Aston Villa skipper Ron Vlaar.
New Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has been hot on the heels of compatriot Vlaar all summer.
And there is also a danger that Manchester United might come calling, should former Holland coach Louis van Gaal miss out on his other defensive targets.
Villa teammate Andi Weimann said, "Ron is our captain and very important to the club. And everyone will be happy if he is still here after Monday.
"I watched all the Dutch games at the World Cup and he was brilliant - and in the first few games this season with us he has shown exactly the same form.
"That's been so good to see.
"He was always our leader and captain.
"He's always been vocal and the player we look up to in the changing room. But in terms of the performances he is now putting in here, there are definitely signs that he has grown in confidence even more since Brazil."
