Vieira emerges as Arsenal candidate after selling luxury home

New York City FC coach Patrick Vieira is being linked with a return to Arsenal after this week's events.

The Mirror says Vieira has sold his Cheshire mansion following rumours he is in the running to replace Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

The French World Cup winner has sold the luxury seven-bedroom home for £2.2m - a year after he put it up for sale.

He bought the home with wife Cheryl in 2010 when he moved up north to play for Manchester City and stayed for five years.

But the 41 year old has now moved to the States to manage New York City although he is heavily linked to the Arsenal job following their recent slump.

The lavish mansion in the Wilmslow, popular with footballers, has been sold subject to contract for £2,295,000.
