Vancouver Whitecaps bring in Toronto midfielder Laba

Vancouver Whitecaps have signed Matias Laba on loan from Canadian rival Toronto FC.

The 22-year old Argentine defensive midfielder heads to BC Place on loan for the 2014 season after initially arriving in Major League Soccer with TFC in April 2013.

Laba, who made 16 appearances for one goal last season, moves to Vancouver under MLS' new intra-league loan rule which allows players aged 24 or under to shift within the competition.

Former Argentinos Juniors young gun Laba was signed as a Young Designated Player by Toronto which prompted the Reds to move him on after they signed Jermain Defoe, Michael Bradley and Gilberto as DP's this offseason.
