Dutch great Marco van Basten has urged Erik ten Hag to take on Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.
There has been talk of the departing Ajax coach not wanting to work with Ronaldo.
But Van Basten says: "If Ronaldo continues to play like he did against Norwich [he scored a hat-trick], if he scores two or three goals in some games, there's no reason to take him out of the team.
"Ten Hag has to bear in mind that he cannot ask what he asks of an 18 year old player, of course Ronaldo has to work hard, but I believe that Ten Hag can influence him.
"I give Erik a piece of advice: don't listen to the press when you start working at Manchester United."
