Zarek Valentin has joined Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt on a permanent basis.
The 22-year old defender has departed Montreal Impact to link up with the promoted Norwegian Tippeligaen side after initially landing there on a 12-month loan in March this year.
Valentin, who helped Glimt take out the second division title last season, will now remain with the club until 2015 but his MLS rights will be retained by the Impact.
"Despite lengthy discussions with Valentin, both parties were unable to reach an agreement. However, the Impact will retain Valentin's rights when he returns to Major League Soccer," read a statement from the Canadian club.
Glimt boss Jan Halvor Halvorsen told local paper Avisa Nordland: "He's the kind of defender that fits our style really well.
"I want offensive side backs, and that's what we have in Valentin. He's also a great guy off the field. He's settled well in Bodø, with the team and the city."
