Toni Lato was proud to captain Valencia to victory over Getafe last night.
The midfielder also struck in the 5-1 win.
Lato later said, "I appreciated the effort of the team, of the people who have been supporting us. We deserved a night like this and if we keep playing like this we're going to win a lot of games.
“I am proud to wear the captain's armband, score a goal and have people applaud me like they did when they substituted me. I felt like crying when they fired me with that ovation."
On his goal, Lato said: “I saw that the ball was coming at me, but if I faked it and stayed there, I only had room to shoot... and it went very well.
“We had played great games, we needed to be more effective, more vertical. The early goal came in handy."
