Unsettled Man Utd striker Van Persie: I don't want to end up like Falcao

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie says he's not interested in a bench role next season. The former Arsenal star believes he can play at the top level for at least another five years.

Van Persie, who has just 12 months left on his £200,000-a-week contract, said: "Have I spoken to Louis? I am sorry, but I can't go into that at this moment.

"I have now landed in a situation which I have never had to deal with before. I started the first 24 games of the season, had an injury, and then I wasn't put straight back into the team.

"This is something I really have to think about - the club too. I think we've both got a fair bit of homework to do in the summer.

"Could I cope with a similar situation like Falcao? I don't think I could."
