Tuchel unsatisfied Chelsea despite beating Tottenham to reach Carabao Cup final

Chelsea have reached the Carabao Cup final after a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.

The Blues won the tie 3-0 overall after a 2-0 victory in the first leg at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs never seriously looked like overturning the first-leg deficit, although they had two penalties correctly overturned by VAR.

Harry Kane also saw a goal ruled out for offside during an improved second-half performance.

It didn't matter however as Antonio Rudiger's 18th minute goal was always going to be enough to end Tottenham's hopes of progression.

The game was paused late on following a medical emergency in the crowd.

Questions will be asked of Antonio Conte after the Italian started deputy Pierluigi Gollini in goals instead of captain Hugo Lloris.

Matt Doherty also started at right-back despite Conte being happy to see the Irishman leave this month.

Thomas Tuchel has now reached his third cup final in less than 12 months in charge of Chelsea.

The west London club will play Arsenal or Liverpool in the final.

"We're happy with the result. In the first half we were the better team and we deserved to be up," Tuchel told BBC 5 Radio Live after the game.

"But we lost concentration and lost focus in the last 15 minutes of the first half and again in the second half. We were almost punished for lack of focus.

"We played at 90% and that's not our style - we shouldn't do this. We had to work hard and it was not our best performance - we were better in the first leg."
