Thestar.com is suggesting that Toronto FC are close to signing Brazilian striker Gilberto Oliveira Souza Jr.
The 24-year old, who is on loan at Portuguesa from Internacional, is a key target for the MLS club and could be lured to Canada during the current offseason of the North American league.
Gilberto has scored 14 goals in 24 appearances for Lusa in the 2013 Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A, which sees him sitting fifth on the Golden Boot charts with one league fixture remaining.
It has been suggested that clubs in Spain, Italy and Germany have shown interest in Gilberto but TFC are reportedly preparing a lucrative offer for the promising talent who started his senior career with second division club Santa Cruz in 2009.
