Tomiyasu thanks Japan manager Moriyasu for helping Arsenal move

Arsenal's deadline day signing Takehiro Tomiyasu has thanked his Japanese coach Hajime Moriyasu for his move to the Premier League.

Tomiyasu secured a transfer to the London club on deadline day, signing from Bologna in Serie A.

Tomiyasu had to leave Japan's training camp when he was on international duty to have his medical and sign an agreement with Arsenal.

He ended up missing their 2022 World Cup Qualifier against Oman, which they lost 1-0.

Talking to Japanese outlet Chunichi, Tomiyasu said: "I wouldn't be able to transfer without it [permission].

"I have to thank him [Moriyasu]."

The versatile defender can play as a right-back and centre-back, and may play on the right for Arsenal initially.
