Inter Milan president Erick Thohir spent part of his trip to London this week to finalise the appointment of Michael Bolingbroke.
Gazzetta dello Sport says the former Manchester United chief operating officer was head-hunted by Inter and he met with Thohir in London on Tuesday.
Bolingbroke will move to Inter to become responsible for finance, administration and infrastructure - such as the San Siro stadium redevelopment.
Meanwhile, should Inter fail to qualify for the Europa League, coach Walter Mazzarri's job will be in doubt.
Inter legend Sinisa Mihajlovic, currently in charge of Sampdoria, has been discussed inside the Nerazzurri boardroom as a potential replacement.
