Chelsea defender Thiago Silva broke a club record in defeat at Newcastle yesterday.

Silva is now the oldest outfield player in the club's history.

He takes over the record from Dick Spence, who played for Chelsea at the age of 39 years and 57 days back in 1947.

Now the record is 39 years and 64 days after Thiago Silva's appearance yesterday.

The Brazilian has a deal with Chelsea to June.
