Sydney's Bridge continues battle with injury

Sydney FC striker Mark Bridge will remained sidelined for tonight's clash with Wellington Phonix.

The 25-year old has had a bad run this season, missing 10 of the Sky Blues' matches, and not featuring since December 29 as he continues to battle a groin problem.

Sydney were hoping Bridge would be right for tonight's final home match of the regular season as the club prepares for the Asian Champions League in March but will have to wait until Saturday when they face the Melbourne Heart at AAMI Park.

"He started full training and did some conditioning exercise ... but today (Tuesday) he was complaining about his groin, he won't be ready for the game," said coach Vitezslav Lavicka.

"He has to manage it with the medical staff but he should be OK."

Sydney will need Bridge at full fitness when they take on Kashima Antlers, Shanghai Shenhua and Suwon Bluewings in Group H of Asian's premier club competition after recently losing star striker Alex Brosque to Shimizu S-Pulse.
