Sydney FC and Chinese giants Shanghai Shenhua have agreed to a date for a friendly next month.

The match will be played at the Sydney Football Stadium on Saturday, July 25 with a 7pm kick-off.

Sky Blues coach Vitezslav Lavicka says it will be a great way for his side to prepare for the A-League season proper.

"This is great way for us to finalise preparations for our first game of season against North Queensland in Townsville," said Lavicka.

"Shanghai are in middle of their season and are a strong side. This match will give us good indication of how competitive we are and should be great spectacle for the fans."
