St Mirren's Stephen O'Donnell could face surgery after seeing a specialist about his persistent knee problem. Buddies boss Gus MacPherson said: "Stephen had an appointment with a surgeon but we don't yet know what the outcome is.
"We are trying to get a second opinion to get to the bottom of the problem with his knee. If he requires surgery, it will get done.
"We've got to get the proper diagnosis, get it fixed and get the rehabilitation done.
"It's very frustrating for Stephen because he started the season well and then picked up this injury.
"He's had three injections but it's never really cleared up. It's a different kind of pain he's getting but we don't know if it's coming from the same injury.
"It's so frustrating for Stephen. He wants to get back involved but players can become anxious and sometimes rush it. We're doing all we can to get to the bottom of it."
