Superdeporte in new editorial: Mestalla punishment intolerable; remember Espanyol pitch invasion?!

Valencia's Superdeporte have slammed the punishment for Valencia after Sunday's defeat of Real Madrid.

Valencia were fined €45,000 and will have the Mario Kempes stand closed for the next five games due to racial taunts against Vini Jr during the game.

In an editorial, Superdeporte stated: “A few weeks ago we saw how Espanyol radicals invaded the grass of the RCDE Stadium. For now, it has gone unpunished.

"Meanwhile, an isolated case in the Mestalla stands with three fans, already identified and prosecuted in record time, has caused the partial closure of Mestalla for the next five days. Incomprehensible, unprecedented measure, and that it took less than 48 hours to take.

"The exploitation practiced by Real Madrid and its supporters must be condemned. The damaging campaign against Mestalla, Valencia and the entire city is completely intolerable, which has led to the closure of Grada Kempes. This sanction could be expected due to the disproportionate campaign that has been generated from Madrid throughout the week. There is nothing more discriminatory than differentiating between first and second class victims.

“Deaf ears are turned to other statements, such as Ancelotti's. The coach's apologies come late because the damage has already been done. Taking 'a finger', a red card from Vinícius, when he clearly attacked Hugo Duro.

“The smokescreen has served Florentino (Perez, Real Madrid) to cover up his miseries. The way in which an issue as serious as racism has been exploited is outrageous. Especially when for the president of Real Madrid, who surprised his own martyr with the presence of cameras in a meeting that was supposed to be private to support him, the solution to all evils is not to prosecute the crime and condemn the guilty, but rather to change the 'refereeing structure'... Well, nothing, manipulate, something remains! And may survival (for Valencia) be mathematical as soon as possible. Just in case."
