Sunderland skipper John O'Shea is hoping for a positive run in the FA Cup but insists that Premier League survival remains the club's priority.
The Black Cats will open their FA Cup campaign with an away trip to current champions Arsenal on Saturday.
When asked if the FA Cup could prove to be distraction from the Wearside outfit's relegation battle, O'Shea said: "Everyone knows that a cup run is great, and we've shown in the last few years how good that can be, but ultimately it's staying in the Premier League.
"We'll see what team the manager goes for. Hopefully we'll have some new additions to the squad as well, so we'll wait and see."
