Sunderland boss Gus Poyet hopes to keep hold of Adam Johnson.

The winger has been linked with Everton and Liverpool, among several clubs, since the end of the season.

But the Evening Chronicle says Poyet wants Johnson to stay at Sunderland after the England international played a major part in helping the club avoid relegation.
