Sunderland beat Brighton, Burnley to Man Utd keeper Carney

Sunderland are swooping for Manchester United goalkeeper Jacob Carney.

The Sun reports Sunderland have beaten Brighton and Burnley to Carney's signature.

The 20-year-old is set to become a free agent when his contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of this month.

Carney is expected to initially join Sunderland's U23 team.

He spent last season on-loan with Portadown in Northern Ireland where he won rave press reviews.
