Stoke City legend Gordon Banks is hopeful the club can sign Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson.

The England World Cup winner told The Sentinel: "Yes, from what I've seen of him, he looks a good goalkeeper.

"Simmo (Steve Simonsen) is still a very good goalkeeper, too, and to have that kind of competition can only be good for the club.

"Goalkeeper is one of the main positions where we must be strong in the Premier League next season and these two can push each other on to greater heights."
