SPL chief Al-Lazeez: Why I say Henderson one of our best signings

Saudi Pro League chief Saad Al Lazeez says they remain in contact with Jordan Henderson.

Former Liverpool captain Henderson lasted six months at Al Ettifaq before leaving for Ajax last month.

He said during the Business of Football Summit organized by the Financial Times: "Jordan Henderson, even though he left, was one of the best signings of the Saudi Pro League.

“In the summer window we signed 93 players and I would say that around thirty of them would be in the list of the top 300 strongest players and that's why you don't expect everyone to stay here. Sometimes things don't work, sometimes the player doesn't adapt and so you expect these things to happen.

"But I continue to maintain that Henderson was one of our best signings, we benefited greatly from his signing and we learned many lessons from the affair, we will continue to grow also thanks to these situations.

“We still maintain a good relationship with him, he is an exceptional boy and footballer. It just didn't work out, but that's life."
