Liverpool youngster Jay Spearing is continuing his rapid progress under reserve-team coach Gary Ablett.

Spearing impressed for the Reds with his goal scoring performance in their 1-1 draw with Manchester United reserves this week.

Ablett told liverpoolfc.tv: "Jay scored a good goal and had other chances as well. The 'keeper made a couple of good saves and he sent another curling shot just wide. He played very well overall and we're pleased with him."
