Joe Montemurro, current assistant coach of Victorian Premier League club South Melbourne, has become the first Australian to obtain a UEFA 'A' Pro Licence diploma.

Montemurro has been at the home of Italian football, Coverciano, taking part in the six-week course with 51 other coaches, 42 of which had played over 300 Serie A games including Vincenzo Montella, Enrico Chiesa, Eugenio Corini and Marco Lanna.

Montemurro is a former National Soccer League player with Brunswick Juventus and has coached at many levels in Victoria including the head coaching role at VPL club Sunshine George Cross.
