Paulo Sousa has revealed he was offered a new role at Leicester City after losing the manager's job.
Sousa has revealed he was offered a director of football role when he made way for Sven-Goran Eriksson in 2010.
The former Portugal international had left Swansea City to take over at City, following the shock departure of Nigel Pearson to Hull City, but he only lasted nine league games before he was replaced by the former England boss.
"I started at Queens Park Rangers, went to Swansea and passed sporadically at Leicester – the owners changed, they hired Eriksson, they offered me the position of manager of football but I did not accept it," he said.
“It was a mistake to have left Swansea. It's one of those decisions that I regret, for being hasty.
"I want one day to return to the country and live that reality again in the Premier League."
