Solskjaer pushes Man Utd to join race for Lille star Pepe

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to compete for the signing of Lille striker Nicolas Pepe.

The London Evening Standard says the Norwegian wants to add to his options and Pepe of Lille has been watched by United scouts.

Pepe has been linked with Premier League rivals Liverpool and Arsenal already this summer.

The 24-year-old forward managed 23 goals and 12 assists in 41 matches across all competitions in 2018-19 as Lille finished second to Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1.

Ivory Coast international Pepe is widely expected to depart Les Dogues this summer, with the player tipped to command a fee in the region of £70m.

Right-sided forward Pepe's form for Lille over the past few seasons has also seen him rumoured to be in Bayern Munich's crosshairs with the Bundesliga champions keen to recruit out wide after letting both Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben leave.
