Solskjaer elated after Man Utd hammer six past Leeds: It could've been 12!

Manchester United were able to snap their bad run of home form with an empathic 6-2 win over Leeds United.

The Red Devils had won just one Premier League game at Old Trafford this season heading into Sunday's clash.

But they couldn't have asked for a better start when Scott McTominay became the first player to score twice inside the first three minutes of a Premier League game.

Goals from Bruno Fernandes and Victor Lindelof followed before Liam Cooper pulled one back for the visitors before half-time.

Daniel James, enjoying a rare start for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, restored the four-goal 20 minutes into the second-half after breaking clear of the Leeds defence.

Anthony Martial was then tripped up by Pascal Struijk inside the box, allowing Fernandes to grab his second goal of the game from the penalty spot.

Stuart Dallas scored an excellent second for Leeds but the game was well and truly over by that stage.

Despite only having 41 per cent of possession, United once again showed their ferocious counter-attacking ability with a win that pushes them into third place on the table with a game in hand, five points behind leaders Liverpool.

And speaking after the game, Solskjaer was ecstatic about his team's performance.

"That was fantastic from the first minute. We had a plan to get after them, go forwards when we had the ball and Scott McTominay got two goals in the first three minutes," the Norwegian told Sky Sports.

"We found a way of getting them going, Just imagine if there were 75,000 people in [the stadium], it would have gone down in history as one of the great performances against Leeds.

"We had to earn the right by running as much as them, that's a challenge. It could have been 12-4! It's that kind of game.

"I enjoyed it, it was frantic, hectic. No matter what the score is they have a certain attitude or style, if they are 5-0 up or down."
