Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari defended his players after defeat to Leganes in the second-leg of their Copa del Rey tie.
The Whites lost to Leganés 1-0 but they are through on aggregate thanks to their performance at the Santiago Bernabéu (3-0). Martin Braithwaite scored the only goal of the game at Butarque and Brahim Diaz hit the post in what was the madridistas' clearest chance.
Solari said, “It was a weak game, especially in the first half". We got through and we gave the players who needed it their minutes. I didn't think we were in any danger of being eliminated.
“Sometimes you try things and they don't work, so you have to change it. We lacked depth and struggled because we didn't have a real focal point in attack. I changed things at half time in order to improve the match."
