Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos has talked up the prospect of Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey joining them this summer.

Partey has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates, with Arsenal ready to trigger a £43.5m release clause in his Atletico contract.

And Sokratis has jokingly suggested that the deal is done after being asked by a fan to "smile if we're signing Partey".

In response, the 31-year-old gave a huge grin to the camera.

Partey's father, Jacob, hit the headlines when he claimed his son had told him he was negotiating with the Gunners but the player's representatives have since denied that is true.
