Moussa Sissoko has admitted Watford's plan against Liverpool "didn't work properly".
The Hornets were thrashed 5-0 at home by Jurgen Klopp's side.
"We knew it was going to be a tough game," Sissoko told Watford Observer.
"When you play against one of the best teams in Europe, you're going to suffer, but we had a plan and it didn't work properly. We made some mistakes we shouldn't do; when you're against a big team any mistake they're going to punish you straight away and that's what happened.
"In football there will be some mistakes otherwise I think all games would be 0-0, but we need to work on that and try to make maybe one or two mistakes only, especially against the big teams because they will punish you straight away.
"We're going to learn from this game and hopefully in the future it's going to be better for us."
