Sheffield Utd boss Heckingbottom remains defiant after Arsenal thrashing

Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom says he won't walk away after their 5-0 thrashing at Arsenal.

The result leaves the Blades winless in the Premier League this season.

Heckingbottom said: “The players are great. I've been really clear on this, they know they're going to get everything from me and one of the things we have to maintain is a positivity.

“Our season is not going to be defined by a trip to the Emirates. We've not prepared for that.

“We've played six of the top nine and now we're coming into a little spell where we play a lot of the teams around us. These are big moments, regardless of what we've got missing and personnel we've got or how many bodies. These are the games we've got to really attack.

“You know more than anyone how many times I've sat in front of you, being the voice or face of the club in difficult situations. Whether it's been talk of admin or embargoes, things like that, selling players. I've spoken as much as I possibly can and we've always been positive and forced our way through it.

“And this will be exactly the same. Unfortunately for you guys, in these sorts of situations I'm the one who probably isn't the best talking about it. But you do know that I'll continue to do my best, to fight for these players and this team and this club. Anyone who knows me knows that. All the noise, everything people say, if there's anything in it or not. As far as I'm concerned you've got to ignore it."
