Paul Scholes has urged former Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney against moving to China.
Recent reports suggest the Red Devils captain is closing in on a big-money transfer to the Chinese Super League, with his agent in negotiations with a club believed to be Tianjin Quanjian, while Beijing Guoan are also being linked.
United legend Scholes said on BT Sport that the Far East does not look a good match for Rooney who should consider a shift to MLS or boyhood club Everton.
"It does look like he is going to be going somewhere, but I just don't see China being the right place for him," he said.
"He is a family man and it doesn't seem the right place for him to go. It is the right place to go financially, obviously, but maybe he will go back to Everton for a couple of years.
"I think America will be better for him. Do what Steven Gerrard did, do what David Beckham did. The lifestyle will be better over there."
