Sanogo contribution delights Wenger who rues more Arsenal injuries

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was left to fret over further injuries to his squad in the wake of Wednesday night's Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund.

The Gunners booked their spot in the Round of 16 with a 2-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium which was sparked by Yaya Sanogo's first goal for the club in the second minute.

The young French striker performed admirably up front for his team but was replaced late by Lukas Podolski as matchday captain Mikel Arteta also suffered a calf injury which could keep him out for a little while.

"I like what Sanogo did tonight because we decided to go long on him," Wenger told Sky Sports.

"He protected very well the ball and what he did on the first goal was class, his combination play with [Santi] Cazorla, but unfortunately he got injured."

Of Arteta, Wenger added: "Arteta's calf injury also does not look good and all our injuries are very difficult to take on the chin at the moment because we go into many games and you need everyone available, but I think that Arteta will be out for a while."
