Former Manchester United Under-23s coach Neil Wood has praised youngster Shola Shoretire.
The midfielder, who has played for the first team at United, scored twice in a defeat to Salford City in the EFL Cup.
United's Under-23s enjoyed a mixed evening in midweek, eventually losing the game 4-3 in dramatic fashion.
"I know he's [youngster Kobbie Mainoo] just come back from a while out, so it's always going to be difficult coming back into a game after a short amount of time and run the match," current Salford boss Wood told the Manchester Evening News.
"I thought he showed some real glimpses of quality and what he has. He's technically a very good player, he's very sharp and sees things on the ball, but I think there are a few players who stood out today.
"Shola [Shoretire] stood out. He's a top talent and has been for a few years and if you're looking at him, his next step is getting out there and showing what he can do in the league if he's not going to be around the first-team.
"I think you've got two top talents there, with Mainoo and Shoretire, who have a hell of a lot of potential."
