Sacking of former Rangers teammate never affected Palermo's Lafferty

Kyle Lafferty's agent insists Rino Gattuso's removal as Palermo manager last year did not affect the player's mindset.

The 26-year old Northern Ireland international joined the Italian club in June 2013, following Gattuso from Swiss club FC Sion, after the former AC Milan midfielder took the reins at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.

Lafferty's ex-Rangers teammate was sacked in September after a poor beginning to the 2013/14 season with the Rosanero but the striker's representative Martin Lyon said it was not going to force him out of the club.

"I never thought it could affect Kyle with his continuation in Palermo," Lyon told Calciomercato.

"We all know the regard that coach has in Italy and Kyle was sorry when he left as he is also a friend. But he did not let that distract from his work in Palermo."

Since joining Palermo, the former Burnley forward has scored seven goals in 13 Serie B starts (22 appearances total) for Italy's second division table-toppers.
