Sacked Chelsea boss Tuchel was dead man walking in Zagreb

Sacked Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was a dead man walking in Zagreb, it has been revealed.

Tuchel was axed by Chelsea's new owners this morning after their Champions League defeat at Dinamo Zagreb.

However, the Athletic reports the decision would have come regardless of last night's result in Croatia, according to The Athletic.

It comes 100 days after American businessman Todd Boehly and his Clearlake Capital consortium took control of the club.

And the Telegraph reports Tuchel did not actively prove that he wanted to be part of the new culture.

Having spent the last three months working together, doubts arose on whether the new owners could work alongside the 49-year-old effectively.

A clash of styles first came to the fore during Chelsea's pre-season tour to the USA.

Tuchel is believed to prefer working on his own, unlike Boehly and Clearlake cofounder Behdad Eghbali.

The German is claimed not to have been active in a WhatsApp group that was set up to discuss transfer targets.

It is also claimed the mood within the club has been tense, with Tuchel's relationship with some players souring in recent weeks.
