Sacked Arsenal boss Emery remains among highest paid in game

Sacked Arsenal boss Unai Emery remains among the highest paid managers in the game - despite being without a job.

Get Football News France says the 48-year-old will receive a total of £6.8m this season in both wages and pay-off fees, putting him behind ex-Lyon boss Bruno Genesio in a list of the 20 highest paid managers in football.

The Times have claimed that although Arsenal could have parted ways with the former Sevilla boss for free at the end of the season, owner Stan Kroenke thought it was best that Emery left while the campaign was in it's early stages.

He recently stated: "Arsenal was a club on a downward slope for two years before I arrived.

"We stopped this fall and even began to rebuild the club with the Europa League final and 5th place in the league, only one point off of Tottenham despite the fact that we took just one point in our final five matches.

"We had Champions League qualification in our grasp and it went wrong in the end."
