Former Real Madrid GM Arrigo Sacchi has revealed Sergio Ramos has sought advice from him over his contract talks. Ramos confessed that Florentino Pérez had offered him a contract renewal, but with a wage reduction.

"I want to renew, but Florentino wants to give me less, what do you think?" the player asked Sacchi, who didn't hesitate to advise him. "You should stay here", Sacchi said, as he himself wrote in Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Remember Shevchenko and Kaká, who were fine at Milan and left for a high salary, and cut short their careers. You're good here, so you should stay", said Sacchi. He also reminded the defender that when he had been sporting director at the club he had convinced Florentino that Ramos would be the "next Paolo Maldini".
