Former France midfielder and now pundit Jerome Rothen has spoken to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi since it broke that Kylian Mbappe will leave at the end of the season.

Real Madrid target Mbappe informed Al-Khelaifi earlier this week his intention to leave this summer.

Rothen told RMC: "The PSG president told me that there will be disappointment, but he is a businessman, he had already gotten used to the idea of losing part of the investment made six years ago in Mbappé.

"He appreciated that Mbappé went to announce his decision face to face, there will be no sanctions. He is happy overall with how this investment went."

Then he added: "We could have imagined it. The more time passed, the less likely it was that Mbappé would stay. He spent seven years at PSG, almost half of his career! He gave it his all."
