Rooney: I'd work with Pep at Man City

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney would have no qualms working for their arch rivals.

Rooney, who nearly joined City as a player back in 2010, wants to work as an assistant coach for Citizens boss Pep Guardiola.

Rooney hailed Guardiola as the best manager in the Premier League, saying he would “walk to Manchester City" if he Spaniard called.

“It depends [on whether I'd ever be an assistant] – if Pep Guardiola comes in and asks me to be his assistant, you'd walk there!," he said on the latest episode of the Stick to Football podcast.

“But you see what [Mikel] Arteta is doing now and I strongly believe a lot of that is from learning what Guardiola was doing and so it depends on what the situation is."

Rooney has experienced failed managerial stints at DC United in MLS and Birmingham City recently.
