Rooney excited seeing Man Utd youngsters get their chance

Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney was delighted seeing Paddy McNair earn his chance in victory over West Ham United.

McNair is one of several youngsters to be handed a debut by boss Louis van Gaal this season.

The Dutchman has put his faith in the likes of Tyler Blackett, Reece James, Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira and Saidy Janko this season.

"Although we let Tom Cleverley go on loan and Danny Welbeck go to Arsenal, we have brought in a young Manchester lad in Tyler Blackett who played every game until Saturday," Rooney said.

"The situation was forced on the manager but he has brought Paddy in and it's shown he isn't afraid to throw young players in."
